Excursion / Day trip to Chefchaouen & Rif Mountains

This is a day trip to Chefchaouen, the blue pearl of the north and the Rif Mountains. Back in in 1471, The Jews and Moors who came fleeing from Spain founded Chefchaouen in the heart of Rif Mountains. And one of its most dignifying characteristics is its blue houses. While some say it was the Jews who painted them, some say there after fleeing Hitler, others say it’s to keep the mosquitoes away, while another group says it represents the color of the sea. The approximity of Chefchaouen to Tangier and the Spanish city Ceuta makes it a must-stop destination on a day trip.

The Reason behind the weird name is because  Chefchaouen is situated under two mountains that are chaped like horns. Hence Ichawen= horns. On our day trip to Chefchaouen, we will visit many places like exotic cafes and traditional mosques in the Place Uttah Hammam. For Example you can find a beautiful mosque dedicated to the saint Moulay Abdeslam Ben MchichAlami; people tend to visit his tomb situated in a village nearby to get his blessings. At the end of the day, we will finish our day trip from Fes to Chefchaouen.
